Government is open to mold “more beneficial” telecom policies to suit business needs of offering quality service to consumers and will soon guide in revamps in providing easy access to quality backend spectrum required for transmitting mobile signals.
Manoj Sinha, Telecom Minister said, our efforts will go on in making beneficial & dynamic policies and creating business-friendly environment in the country. Industry has to go on to devote efforts to rising and upgrading quality through innovation & competition.
He said the traditional regulatory structure, which was designed for an era where clear differences existed between services & infrastructure, want to adapt and change to new services and merging.
As we speak, India has overhaul the US to become the world’s biggest Internet market with 343 million users. This talks about progress and achievements of the Indian telecom sector. Having said that, still more demands to be done to connect millions of people who don’t have access to connectivity, said Sinha.
The Department of Telecom is working on ending some of the permits like wireless operating license and bringing in revamps in backhaul spectrum so that operators are able to conveniently transmit their services Telecom Secretary J S Deepak said.
